Chery Automobile’s Jetour brand has announced the official launch date for its highly anticipated Shanhai L6 plug-in hybrid SUV, set for August 25 in the Chinese market. The Shanhai series, which translates to “Mountain Sea” from Chinese, represents Jetour’s new energy vehicle lineup, showcasing the brand’s commitment to sustainable mobility.

The Shanhai L6 is a testament to Jetour’s innovation in the new energy sector, with plans to expand the series over the next two years to include models like the Shanhai L7, T-L, T1, and T2. These models will cater to two primary vehicle use scenarios: family travel and off-road adventures. The T2 was introduced in April, and the T1 is scheduled for a fourth-quarter release.

The L6 boasts dimensions of 4630mm in length, 1910mm in width, and 1684 (1690) mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2720mm. It is designed for various terrains, with approach and departure angles of 19° and 22° respectively. The vehicle’s curb weights range from 1756 kg to 1796 kg, reflecting its robust build.

Visually, the Shanhai L6 is equipped with 255/45 R20 Giti tires, complemented by striking fluorescent yellow calipers. It features a modern aesthetic with black roof racks and traditional door handles, while its front design closely follows the Jetour Dasheng’s front face, with a closed grille, sharp headlights, and a refreshed logo and grille design.

Safety is paramount, with the L6 offering advanced driver assistance systems such as automatic emergency braking and driver fatigue monitoring, supported by a camera mounted on the A-pillar.

Under the hood, the Shanhai L6 is powered by a 1.5T plug-in hybrid system, consisting of a 1.5T four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. The engine delivers a maximum power of 115 kW (154 hp). Two options for ternary lithium battery packs are available, with capacities of 10.9 kWh and 19.43 kWh, providing a pure electric range of 48 km and 91 km, respectively, under CLTC conditions. The top speed is capped at 180 km/h.

Inside, the cockpit is a blend of comfort and technology, featuring a double-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, a floating central control screen, a rectangular instrument panel, and wireless charging panels. The air conditioning control area is adorned with numerous physical buttons for ease of use.

Additional configurations include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a Sony audio system, electric adjustment for driver and passenger seats, rear air-conditioning vents, electric adjustment of exterior mirrors with automatic folding when locking the car, and voice control capability.

The Shanhai L6 is a significant step in Jetour’s journey towards a greener future, offering consumers a blend of performance, safety, and eco-friendliness. With its official launch just around the corner, the automotive world eagerly awaits the arrival of this new energy vehicle.
