BYD‘s new model, the Seal 06, will be the first to feature the new energy vehicle (NEV) maker’s fifth-generation DM-i hybrid powertrain.
The model will have a combined range of more than 2,000 kilometres and is likely to consume less than three litres of fuel per 100 kilometres on a low charge according to NEDC standards.

The Seal 06 was listed in the new model declaration catalogue published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) last month, which means that it may not be too far away from release.

The five-seat sedan measures 4,830 millimetres in length, 1,875 millimetres in width, 1,495 millimetres in height and has a wheelbase of 2,790 millimetres, according to the filing.
It has a gross mass of 1,610 kilograms and a top speed of 180 kilometres per hour.

The new-energy automaker will launch its fifth-generation DM system, the DM-i branch of which will enable the vehicle to consume as little as 2.9 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres, and drive nearly 2,000 kilometres on a full tank of fuel and a full charge.
