Geely‘s premium electric vehicle EV brand, Zeekr, is gearing up to challenge the electric SUV market with the launch of its new 7X SUV. Just days after teasing the public with camouflaged images, Zeekr has released more detailed photos of the vehicle, revealing a design that aligns with its predecessor, the Zeekr 007, and hints at an 800V electrical architecture promising an impressive range of over 700 km.

The 7X SUV, named with the distinctive “X” to signify its place in Zeekr’s SUV lineup, is larger than the compact Zeekr X. It embodies the golden ratio of 0.618—a mathematical proportion often found in nature and revered for its aesthetically pleasing compositions. The 7X introduces a suite of innovative design features, including a continuous interactive light strip at the front, lower headlamp clusters, and a roof-mounted laser radar for advanced driver-assistance systems. The sleek profile is accentuated by concealed door handles, and the rear is marked by a near-continuous taillight design enhanced by Zeekr’s new super red LED technology.

Built on the PMA2+ platform, which is derived from the SEA modular architecture, the 7X boasts dimensions of 4825/1930/1656 mm and a generous wheelbase of 2925 mm. This positions it as a formidable competitor to the Zeekr 007, which measures 4880/1900/1448 mm with a wheelbase of 2928 mm.

Powering the 7X are high-performance silicon carbide motors, coupled with a choice of lithium iron phosphate or ternary lithium batteries. This battery technology highlights Zeekr’s commitment to reducing resistance and enhancing energy efficiency and performance, distinguishing it from competitors that opt for different battery technologies.

The entry-level model will feature Geely’s “Golden Brick” LFP battery, capable of charging a 500 km range in just 15 minutes thanks to the high-voltage 800V system. Higher-end variants will be equipped with a ternary NMC battery developed by CATL, offering powertrains similar to those found in the 007 sedan.

Inside, the 7X mirrors the minimalist cockpit design of the Zeekr 007, featuring a curved instrument panel, a floating center screen, and a newly styled steering wheel that contributes to a modern and driver-focused cabin.

Priced between 240,000 and 350,000 yuan (approximately 33,000 and 48,200 USD), the 7X is set to make its debut by the end of the year. It is poised to compete closely with the upcoming Xiaomi MX11 SUV and other models in the dynamic electric SUV market, including the Tesla Model Y, Li Auto L6, and Onvo L60.
