The Stelato S9 has a CLTC range of up to 816 km and Huawei’s latest ADS 3.0 driver assistance system.

Huawei, in collaboration with Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC Group), has unveiled its first-ever model under the new brand Stelato, the S9, aiming to capture the premium all-electric sedan segment in China. The official launch of the Stelato S9 took place today, with the first deliveries scheduled for August 7.

The Stelato S9 comes in two distinct variants: Max and Ultra, and is positioned as the flagship sedan within Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) business unit.

This mid-to-large-sized executive sedan boasts dimensions of 5,160 mm in length, 1,987 mm in width, and 1,486 mm in height, with a spacious wheelbase of 3,050 mm. Richard Yu, Chairman of Huawei’s intelligent vehicle solutions business unit, highlighted that the S9 offers an impressive 3,460 mm of usable cabin space, surpassing that of mainstream luxury sedans.

The S9’s aerodynamic design is evident in its drag coefficient of 0.193 Cd, which Yu claims is the lowest among all production luxury sedans globally. Powered by a 100-kWh, 800 V battery pack co-developed with CATL, the Stelato S9 promises a CLTC range of 816 kilometers for the Max variant and 721 kilometers for the Ultra variant. The Max variant features a single rear-mounted motor with a peak power output of 227 kW, capable of propelling the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.98 seconds. In contrast, the Ultra variant is equipped with dual motors, including an additional front motor with 158 kW, allowing for a swift 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in just 3.9 seconds.

A highlight of the Stelato S9 is its integration of Huawei‘s latest Advanced Driving System (ADS) 3.0, which is designed to provide a more potent and intelligent driving experience. BAIC’s electric vehicle division, BAIC BluePark, announced earlier this year its partnership with Huawei to develop the Stelato brand. The S9 made its debut on April 25 at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show.

In addition to Stelato, Huawei has also established other automotive brands such as Aito with Seres Group, Luxeed with Chery, and Maextro with Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC). The Aito brand currently offers three models: the mid-size SUV Aito M5, the mid-to-large-size SUV Aito M7, and the large SUV Aito M9. Luxeed’s lineup includes the Luxeed S7, a mid-to-large-size sedan. The Maextro brand is anticipated to launch its first model in 2025.

The Stelato S9 joins the Aito M9 as one of the flagship models of Huawei’s HIMA business. BAIC Chairman Zhang Jianyong expressed full commitment to the S9 at the launch, promising robust support for the vehicle. The launch is anticipated to further enhance sales for Huawei’s HIMA business, which has consistently sold over 40,000 vehicles per month, reaching 44,090 units in July.
