Neta enters Costa Rica’s auto market, aims to reach 100,000 overseas sales in coming year
Neta plans to expand its global network coverage to 50 countries and reach 500 overseas sales and service outlets by 2024.
Neta Auto, the electric vehicle (EV) brand of Chinese company Hozon Auto, is bringing its vehicles to a new market as it continues to advance its globalization strategy.
Neta made its EVs available in Costa Rica on November 24, marking the company’s official entry into the Central and South American market, it said today.
Neta plans to expand its global network coverage to 50 countries and reach 500 overseas sales and service outlets by 2024, it said.
The company is targeting overseas sales of 100,000 units in the coming year, Neta said.
Neta is one of the earliest new car-making forces in China and one of the most active in entering overseas markets, announcing in September 2021 that it would enter the ASEAN new energy vehicle (NEV) market.
On March 10 this year, Neta laid the groundbreaking for its plant in Bangkok, Thailand, which will be its main manufacturing base for building right-hand drive EVs for export to ASEAN, the company said at the time.
Upon completion, the plant will have a capacity of 20,000 units/year and is expected to start production at the end of January 2024, Neta previously said.
On October 30, Neta said it shipped the first overseas versions of the Neta U crossover to Turkey and plans to get a number of its main-selling models into the United Arab Emirates in 2024.Neta plans seven products for overseas markets, including sedans, SUVs and touring versions that could cover mainstream segments from A to E class, the company said on October 30.
Meanwhile, Neta is developing left- and right-hand drive models that can be sold in more than 60 overseas markets, it said last month.
Neta was founded in October 2014 and in November 2018 it launched its first model, the N01.
The company has been seen as a budget EV maker since its inception, as it has primarily targeted the low- and mid-range markets over the past few years.
Neta’s current models on sale in China include the budget Neta Aya, Neta X , Neta S, and Neta GT, with the Neta S being its flagship sedan and the Neta GT being an electric sports car.
Neta delivered 12,085 vehicles in October, down 32.92 percent from 18,016 units in the same month last year and down 8.52 percent from 13,211 units in September, according to data it announced earlier this month.
In the January-October period, Neta delivered 109,855 vehicles, down 14.98 percent year-on-year.
