Li Auto releases more official images of Li Mega
Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) has shared more images of its first battery electric vehicle (BEV) model, the Li Mega, after the company’s CEO shared images yesterday that sparked widespread discussion in China.
Li Auto today shared five images of the Li Mega MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) on its social media platforms, showing the model’s exterior design from all angles.
“Can an MPV achieve the wind resistance of a coupe?” Li Auto wrote on Weibo, suggesting that the wind resistance of the Li Mega will be comparable to that of a coupe.
Li Xiang, founder, chairman and CEO of Li Auto, shared two images of the Li Mega on Weibo yesterday and asked his followers to guess its wind resistance coefficient.
The two images sparked a discussion about whether the Li Mega’s design is ugly or beautiful, while few discussed its wind resistance, as its design is very different from the current mainstream MPV models.
Li Auto’s moves over the past two days have been to step up the warming up of the Li Mega, with the model two months away from its official launch.
Li Auto currently has three models on sale, the five-seat Li L7, and the six-seat Li L8 and Li L9, all of which are extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), essentially plug-in hybrids.
The company plans to officially launch the Li Mega in December, and the BEV will be available in stores next January, with deliveries starting in February, Li Auto announced at the Chengdu auto show in August.
The company already has 50 5C supercharging stations that will be able to give the Li Mega a 500-kilometer range in 12 minutes, the company said on August 31.
Li Auto aims to have 300 supercharging stations by the end of the year and a cumulative total of 3,000 by 2025.
