China EV insurance registrations for week ending Dec 3: Nio 3,700, Xpeng 4,800, Li Auto 9,600, Tesla 17,600
or the week of November 27 to December 3, BYD‘s vehicle insurance registrations in China were 56,200 units.
For the week of November 27 to December 3, Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) had weekly sales of 9,600 units, the company said today on Weibo.
As before, Li Auto didn’t explain the basis for calculating the weekly sales, but apparently, they were insurance registrations. The company suspended sharing those numbers in May, but has since resumed sharing them.
Li Auto’s insurance registrations were up 2.13 percent last week from 9,400 the week before. The company’s three models currently on sale are the Li L7, Li L8 and Li L9, all of which are extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), essentially plug-in hybrids.
The Li L7 had 4,000 insurance registrations last week, and the Li L8 and Li L9 both had 2,800, according to Li Auto, which said it will challenge 50,000 monthly sales this month.
Last week included the last four days of November and the first three days of December.
Li Auto delivered a record 41,030 vehicles in November, surpassing October’s previous record of 40,422.
Li Auto guided for fourth-quarter vehicle deliveries to be in the range of 125,000 to 128,000 units when it reported third-quarter earnings on November 9.
Nio (NYSE: NIO) vehicles had 3,700 insurance registrations in China last week, up 12.12 percent from 3,300 the week before.
The company is due to announce its unaudited financial results for the third quarter in a few hours. It delivered 55,432 vehicles in the third quarter, slightly above the lower end of its guidance range of 55,000 to 57,000 vehicles.
Nio delivered 15,959 vehicles in November, essentially unchanged from 16,074 in October.
Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) was at 4,800 vehicles last week, up 9.09 percent from 4,400 the week before.
The company delivered a record 20,041 vehicles in November, its second consecutive month of more than 20,000 units.
Xpeng guided for fourth-quarter deliveries of between 59,500 and 63,500 vehicles in its third-quarter earnings report released on November 15.
Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) had 17,600 insurance registrations in China last week, up 5.39 percent from 16,700 the previous week.
Tesla sold 82,432 China-made vehicles in November, including exports, according to data released yesterday by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
That’s up 14.31 percent from October, but down 17.81 percent from a year ago.
BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) vehicles had 56,200 insurance registrations in China last week, up 16.36 percent from 48,300 the week before.
BYD sold 301,903 NEVs in November, up 31.02 percent year-on-year and essentially flat from October’s 301,833 units, according to data it released on December 1.
BYD’s premium brand Denza was at 3,500 units last week, up 59.09 percent from 2,200 in the previous week.
Zeekr was at 2,900 units last week, up 31.82 percent from 2,200 the week before.
Leapmotor was 4,300 last week, up 4.88 percent from 4,100 the week before.
Neta was at 3,100 units last week and it failed to enter any of the rankings for the week before that was published by Li Auto.
