BYD Rangoon says more than 5,000 U8s have been sold, unveils features of first owners
More than 80% of Yangwang U8 owners are business owners, partners or company executives, and 90% of them own more than 2 cars.
(BYD)’s premium brand, Yangwang Automobile, has announced sales of its first model, the U8, since its launch and shared snapshots of the ultra-luxury SUV’s first owners.
The brand announced on Weibo today that 5,000 units of the Yangwang U8 have been sold after 132 days on the market, making it the fastest SUV in China to reach this milestone in the 1 million RMB class.
Figures released by BYD today mean that the U8 reached 5,000 units sold on 30 January this year.
Deliveries of the Yangwang U8 began in November 2023 with 408 units delivered in the first month.
In the past three months, deliveries of the U8 were 1,593, 1,652 and 780 units, respectively.
By the end of February, a total of 4,433 units of the Young Shang U8 had been delivered.
According to Yangwang, about 55 per cent of the U8’s owners come from China’s first-tier and new first-tier cities. New Tier 1 cities are large cities that are slightly smaller than Tier 1 cities.
