BYD‘s (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) model updates continue, and now it’s the Yuan Plus’ turn to dramatically lower its starting price.

The new energy vehicle (NEV) maker today launched the Yuan Plus Glory Edition at a starting price of CNY119,800 (about $16,650), which is CNY16,000, or 11.78 percent, off the previous starting price of CNY135,800 for the Champion Edition of the model.

Initially launching in China in February 2022, the Yuan Plus is the first SUV of BYD’s all-electric platform, e-platform 3.0, and the first BYD model to be built for the global market, having previously been launched as the Atto 3 in several overseas markets.

BYD introduced a number of Champion Edition models in the last round of model updates, with the Yuan Plus Champion Edition launched in September 2023. In the latest round of updates after the Chinese New Year holiday in 2024, BYD introduced the model Glory Edition.
