BYD Denza Z9 GT is gearing up to initiate the pre-sale in just five days, with plans to officially release the vehicle to the market by year-end. Denza took to Weibo to announce that the Z9 GT’s pre-sale will commence on August 20th, though the company has kept further specifics under wraps, promising to unveil the pre-sale pricing on that day.
Denza has stated that the Z9 GT marks the beginning of the Z series, which will comprise sedans, with ‘GT’ signifying Grand Tourer.
Denza is premium new energy vehicle brand of BYD. Founded in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler, with equal stakes held by both, Denza saw a rebranding in February 2022 when Daimler became Mercedes-Benz. BYD subsequently raised its stake in Denza to 90% in 2022.
Post-rebranding, Denza introduced the D9 MPV, followed by the N7 and N8 SUVs from the N series. The Z9 GT’s dimensions, as per regulatory documents, are 5,180 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width, and 1,500/1,480 mm in height, with a wheelbase spanning 3,125 mm. Powered by BYD’s e3 technology, the vehicle will feature a tri-motor electric power system delivering peak power outputs of 230 kW, 240 kW, and 240 kW respectively. Denza has highlighted that the Z9 GT boasts a peak power nearing 1,000 horsepower, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3 seconds.
Interior details of the Z9 GT, revealed last month, include a front setup with three screens—a horizontal console, an instrument panel, and a screen for the passenger seat. The vehicle also sports built-in refrigerators at both the front and rear, a feature gaining traction among car manufacturers in China’s highly competitive electric vehicle market.
Recent data from Denza indicates a delivery of 10,340 vehicles in July, marking a 7.23% decrease year-on-year and a 15.76% decrease month-on-month. For the period January to July, Denza’s vehicle deliveries totaled 69,905, reflecting a 2.96% increase year-on-year.
