FAW-Volkswagen unveiled its new Magotan gasoline-powered sedan on July 9th, featuring an enhanced exterior and interior design along with an innovative intelligent driving solution from DJI.

The redesigned Magotan is built on the MQB-B platform, with dimensions of 4990/1854/1487 mm and a 2871 mm wheelbase, classifying it as a mid-sized sedan. The new model is notably larger than its predecessor, with a 124 mm increase in length, a 22 mm increase in width, and an 8 mm increase in height, while maintaining the same wheelbase. The vehicle is distinguished by its new dual-tone rims and a “Timeless” design language, highlighted by a slim grille connected to the headlights with a central chrome trim and an illuminated Volkswagen logo.

The interior boasts a significant upgrade with a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel, a 15-inch 2K floating central control screen, and an 11.6-inch co-pilot entertainment screen, all powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. The new Magotan also includes a HUD (Head-Up Display) and an electronic gear shifter for a more advanced driving experience.

A standout feature of the new Magotan is the integration of DJI’s level 2+ intelligent driving system, offering advanced driving assistance functionalities such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep, and lane change assist. This intelligent driving solution has already been successfully implemented in other models, including the SAIC-Volkswagen Tiguan L Pro, Baojun Yep Plus, and Chery iCar 03.

Additional premium features include an iFlytek voice assistant, Harman Kardon speakers, and electric adjustment, ventilation, heating, and massaging capabilities for both front and rear seats.

The new Magotan offers two engine options: a 1.5T engine delivering 118 kW (158 hp) and 250 Nm of torque, which is an 8 kW increase over the current 1.4T engine, and a 2.0T engine with outputs of 162 kW (217 hp) and 350 Nm, consistent with the current 380TSI trim.
